Structure creates behavior... This is a foundational concept in the engaging book "Level 5 Leadership at Work" by Winston Ledet, Michelle Ledet Henley and Sherri Abshire. Level 5 leaders create a structure that encourages subordinate leaders, regardless of their organizational position, to be comfortable taking action towards a common objective. The structure should be a clearly articulated framework, within which people can be empowered and trusted. Enlightened senior leaders check their ego at the door, and are comfortable in the knowledge that they can't know everything. True Level 5 leaders are expert at giving credit to those who accept empowerment. "Level 5 Leadership at Work" should be required reading for people who have the desire to initiate and sustain an organization where people feel empowered and trusted. A wonderful companion book to "Don't Just Fix It, Improve It".
